During homework, please continue to guide your child in letter formation. Since all of the letters have been introduced, we can hold the students to correct practice until practice becomes habit. Your child should also be able to sound out simple words at home now that the first 26 phonograms have been introduced. Short words like: cat, hat, dog, hog, sit, fit, cup, etc…
As cooler weather approaches (finally!), please make sure that your child’s sweater and jackets have a name printed on the tag or label inside. Please remember to send your child with a water bottle daily, also labeled with their name.
**For Spalding this week we will be adding the phonograms: “ch” and “ow.” If you have a set of Spalding flash cards at home, please include these in your nightly practice. We are continuing to practice beginning and ending sounds. We have also introduced 3 rules so far: Rule 4, Rule 19 and Rule 17. Please make sure to rhyme at home with your child.
**In Math we will be working with counters to practice addition. The students will roll a cup of beans and record their color (red/white). Recording their answers will help them to become more familiar with addition.
**’EXTENDED DAY’ will be learning about ‘Pumpkins.’
Please continue to practice the October poem.
I will take volunteers first for assessments.
They have a choice this month of: Autumn or Falling Leaves.
This Thursday and Friday are half days due to conferences.
If you would like for your morning student to be picked up at 11,
please let me know by green sheet or email.
If I do not hear from you,
I will plan on keeping your Kindergartner until 12:15 pick-up.
**NO SCHOOL MONDAY, OCT. 22nd**
Thank you for your support!
Let's make this a great week!!!
