The 15 focus phonograms that will be assessed this week are:

We have begun our unison reading! The words in these classroom books are familiar words and words that you will find in the Ayer’s list (Curriculum Night Binder). Thank you for continuing to practice sounding out at home, we are doing more and more of that each day.
The first 26 phonograms should be mastered at this point in the year so that the students can focus on their multi-letter phonograms. We will be doing a written phonogram challenge on Tuesday of next week (the day before Thanksgiving break), assessing the first 26 phonograms. Please pay close attention to the phonograms that your child missed and continue to practice them at home.
**For Spalding this week we will be adding the phonograms: “er” clue: “of her,” “ir” clue: “of first,” “ur” clue: “of nurse,” “wor” clue: “of works,” & “ear” clue: “of early.” Please add these five phonograms to your practice set. We are also becoming familiar with some of the rules of the English language that will be used when entering words into our Spalding notebooks, which we will begin writing in this week!
**Our math focus this week will be on place value, graphing and addition. If you have addition flash cards at home, extra practice would be beneficial (up to 10).
**’EXTENDED DAY’ will begin our study on ‘Thanksgiving’.
**The November poem assessment will be the week AFTER Thanksgiving break.
**NEW THIS WEEK:
Students will begin writing in their Spalding notebooks this week. Handwriting is an extremely important part of this, so please make sure to continue to put emphasis on the importance of this skill at home. Thank you!
Thank you for your support!
Let's make this a great week!!!
